Montana Most Dependent on Canadian and Mexican Imports

• Largely due to its oil refinery operations importing crude oil from Canada, Montana has the highest import dependence at 93%.
• Maine, Vermont, and North Dakota are also highly dependent, all over 71%.
• Michigan is also highly dependent at 69%, and is the only state in which motor vehicles are the top import from both Canada and Mexico.
• Just over half of U.S. states have 30% or more of their imports come from Canada and Mexico.
