📈 Revitalized U.S. Role in EU Trade since the Mid-2010s
Following a declining U.S. share in EU exports and imports during the 2000s—driven by rising imports of manufactured goods from China and increased fuel imports from Russia—the U.S. share began to rise again in the mid-2010s. This upward trend accelerated after Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, as the EU sought to diversify trade away from Russia.
