Germany’s Internet Speed is meh
Germany ranks 60th in the global broadband speed comparison, with an average of just 91.42 Mbit/s. This is far behind global leaders like Singapore (284.05 Mbit/s) and Hong Kong (271.29 Mbit/s).
Why is this a problem?
In today's digital world, fast internet is just as critical as electricity. Slow broadband speeds not only hinder the daily lives of citizens but also hurt businesses' ability to compete globally. For companies, slow internet means longer processing times, delayed communication, and reduced productivity—ultimately making them less competitive on the international stage. Rural areas, in particular, are suffering from outdated infrastructure, falling even further behind.
What needs to happen?
Germany urgently needs massive investments in fiber networks and comprehensive reforms to improve its broadband infrastructure. If we don't act now, Germany will continue to lose its competitive edge in the global digital economy. The future is digital—Germany must keep up to stay relevant.
