Who is Funding Ukraine's War Efforts

February 24, 2024 marks the 3 year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Over the course of this war, international support for Ukraine’s war efforts reached €267.2B, divided into financial aid (€118.5B), humanitarian aid (€19.0B), and military aid (€129.8B). The U.S. emerged as the largest contributor, providing €114.1B, predominantly for military assistance. The European Union, through its Commission and Council, allocated €48.9B, mainly as financial support. Other major European donors include Germany (€17.3B) and the United Kingdom (€14.8B). Non-European countries, such as Canada and Japan, also played a role, contributing €8.3B and €10.5B, respectively.
Military aid accounted for the largest share of total contributions, followed by financial and humanitarian aid. All European donors collectively provided aid reaching €132.3B, demonstrating regional solidarity, while the rest of the world (excl. Oceania and North America) contributed €20.8B. The diverse allocation of aid highlights the global commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defence, economy, and humanitarian needs throughout the conflict.
