America's Most Popular Breakfast Cereals

According to Americans, nothing beats consuming a heaping bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cheerios or Fruity Pebbles over the sink to start off the morning. In a survey by Statista, 43 percent, 41 percent and 34 percent said they had consumed these cereals in the past 12 months, making them the most popular in the country. While the survey didn't actually ask how and when the cereals were eaten, American breakfast habits and love for sugary foods in the morning are infamous around the world and sometime cause disdain internationally, may that be eating while standing up, indulging in pancakes, waffles, syrup and Pop-Tarts early in the day or, even worse, not taking one's time and rushing out the door (with a giant thermos of coffee and creamer).
However, the popularity of U.S. cereal sold in specialty stores, online or even in specialized restaurants around the world shows that iconic brands like Lucky Charms or Cap'n Crunch are developing a cult following outside of the United States as American soft power seems as convincing as ever and global citizens continue to look to the country for the latest trends.
Dieticians do suggest not to eat sugary cereal in the morning (or regularly ever) and advise opting for whole grain products with a high fibre content and no or little added sugar.
