Americans’ Favorite Beers, by Generation 🍺
What we’re showing
The top beers for each U.S. generation as of Q4 2023, according to a consumer survey from YouGov.
The "popularity" metric represents the % of people who had a positive opinion of that beer. YouGov surveys are conducted with a representative sample of 1,500 respondents.
Millennials favorite beers (or seltzer)
U.S. millennials appear to favor foreign beers, with the top 5 spots taken by Dutch (Heineken) or Mexican beers (Modelo, Corona).
While not exactly a beer, White Claws (which have a similar alcohol content) claimed sixth place. Hard seltzers have become very popular in recent years due to their variety of flavors, attractive packaging, and lower carbs & calories.
Gen X and Boomers share similar tastes
The top three beers for these two generations are the same, but there are some unique picks further down their rankings.
For instance, Gen Xers have a favorable view of Blue Moon, a Belgian-style witbier, ranking it eighth. Boomers, on the other hand, have a preference for Mexican beer Dos Equis, which is produced by Heineken-owned Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery.
Dos Equis was known for its “most interesting man in the world” commercials, which ran from 2006 to 2018.
